Ventricular premature beats

• Frequently found in healthy people
• May be due to coronary artery diseases or cardiomyopathy
• The complexes may be unifocal (identical ectopic beats arising from a single ectopic focus) or multifocal (varying morphologies arising from multiple foci).
• Couplet = two successive ectopic beats; triplet = three successive ectopic beats
• Bigeminy = a run of alternating sinus beat and ventricular ectopic beats
